Two nights ago I saw Venus in Fur, on Broadway now with Nina Arianda and Hugh Dancy, Hugh Dancy who you certainly get confused with all those other boys but just so you’re clear, he’s the one in Ella Enchanted, no, not James Marsden, that’s Enchanted. Ella Enchanted. Anne Hathaway not Amy Adams. Hugh Dancy. Are you even listening to me? Remember when Amy Adams was in Junebug and we thought she was going to be that the whole time but then she did some other things and now she’s in the new Muppets movie? I like her fine, I just wish every time I see her I wish she were in something else like Junebug that I could watch. I guess she’s in that PT Anderson movie of the future but who knows about that. But you know who else is going to be in that PT Anderson movie is Landry! From Friday Night Lights, Landry. Except don’t you worry that Landry without Saracen is just someone who mumbles. Hang on, am I allowed to call him PT Anderson? Should I have said Paul Thomas Anderson? We’re not friends, so probably I should be respectful. Anyway, where was uh right Landry, uh, Saracen, uh, one time I was in a hotel room and I saw Saracen in some movie. He was playing basketball. I don’t know. I watched the whole rest of the movie and I don’t know. What’s that actor’s name? Shoot. I’m not going to look it up. I know Landry’s name, it’s Jesse Plemons. Mumbles Plemons. Remember when Max Greenfield mumbled? When he was Deputy Leo on Veronica Mars, now he’s whosawhatsit-shirtlessface on New Girl and he no longer mumbles. I was sort of angry when I watched New Girl and he wasn’t mumbling, because, that means the mumbling on Veronica Mars was a choice? Or poor planning. I know I’m supposed to be mad about New Girl for some other reason but primarily for me it’s about the lack of Max Greenfield mumbling. I actually have otherwise enjoyed the show well enough, except, a few times I told people that and once I repeated a joke from the show to prove it and it fell flat which just goes to show you, I’m not that funny. Venus in Fur is really good, though, really, just really one of my favorite plays of years recent. You should see it. I think Hugh Dancy is even better than Wes Bentley was. Which makes sense? As I would totally rewatch Ella Enchanted way before I’d rewatch American Beauty.
