How did this thing begin where now my clothing labels are not labels at all but instead just printed words. I thought the printed word was dead? But it’s not, it’s in my underpants. So what are parents doing now, where are they marking the initials of their children. I remember reading in a book about a girl whose mother sewed special name labels into her clothes before this girl went to sleepaway camp. I went to sleepaway camp but it was nerd sleepaway camp and by the time I went I was too old for labels of any sort, except for the label “nerd,” ha-ha. At nerd sleepaway camp we lived in a college dorm and took classes in the mornings and in the afternoons went swimming in a Finger Lake. I took a class on the nineteen-sixties and the class mostly involved watching the Zapruder film over and over. I was probably too young to be spending my summer in unlabeled clothing watching the Zapruder film over and over. Abraham Zapruder owned a juniors clothing company. I wonder what he would think of this development about the labels. Is it good for the environment?
